“The real reason why I can accept as historical a story in which a miracle occurs is that I have never found any philosophical grounds for the universal negative proposition that miracles do not happen.”

So wise.  It is amazing when I hear some dismiss the Bible (or even non-Biblical stories) because of a mention of a supernatural event, what we typically call a miracle.  The arrogance of assuming all knowledge and all understanding is quite breath-taking.  At the same time, such a stance really puts one at a limitation because you shrink the majesty of the world.  For myself, since I experience a miracle every day….I wake from a state of what we call sleep where the body in some way maintains a living state, yet can bring itself to consciousness apart from any act of my own—do you see it…you cannot force yourself to sleep nor to wake; it happens like a miracle all on its own.   So, since I experience a miracle every day, I am quite content in my ignorance to accept that it is possible that other miracles have happened.
