Wednesday History Note: Walt Whitman

The official services of America, national, state, and municipal, in all their branches and departments, except the judiciary, are saturated in corruption, bribery, falsehood, mal-administration; and the judiciary is tainted.

Written in 1892, at a time much like our own today, Whitman’s words echo strongly, and sadly, as we consider this tragedy of a Presidential election.  This modern failure is not simply that Clinton and Trump are terrible people, terrible leaders and so narcissistic to only see themselves in glowing light….the modern failure is that we can’t see the corruption throughout our total culture.
