Wednesday History Note: Pascal and C.S. Lewis

“Pascal says that God ‘instituted prayer in order to allow His creatures the dignity of causality.’…He made the matter of the universe such that we can…do things to it; that is why we can wash our hands or feed  (or murder) our fellow creatures.  Similarly, He made His own plan or plot of history such that it admits a certain amount of free play and can be modified in response to our prayers.”

My prayer for you as the New Year begins is that you realize how great God is, and how desperately He desires to commune with you, to both be with you and to converse with you.  Do not let modern small-mindedness about the reality of super-natural activity blunt your own actions to reach out to petition the One who both knows you best and loves you best.

Reach to Him and Live Well.
