I told you a few weeks ago about community and the human need for connection.  Actually, I’ve been writing and speaking about this for over 10 years, though I am late to the game compared to writers and thinkers like Robert Putnam and Wendall Berry.  I wrote about Berry previously and he remains a key voice in this call for a return to communal living.

Fast Company is catching up with me, or merely confirming what many of us are seeing clearly.  We need one another.  Take a good read.

The author of this post closes with this thought:  “We all know the phrase: You can do anything, but you can’t do everything. Firms who want to create impact can do anything through the combination of a strong sense of self and a diverse set of partners. We rely on the network, now we have to start behaving like one. Firms that learn to articulate their real value, and share that with clients and partners alike will be the next leaders.  If the last ten years in design was marked by autonomy, the next ten years will be about interdependence.”
